____________
As illustrated above, 'Salsa music' originated in the mid-1950s as a mutation of Cuban 'Son' music, which itself derives from the Afro-Cuban 'Son' of the 1920s. As for the latter, its origin is traced back to the 19th Century rural 'Changüi' music from the Guantánamo region (cf. the 2020 documentary film Nuestro Changüí de LCA Audiovisuales Cuba/ Besa films Valencia/ RMM Productions Barcelona 63').
